    Steads Place, Edinburgh.

The development of Stead’s Place, near the foot of Leith Walk in Edinburgh, will herald a major regeneration of the 2.9-acre site bringing much-needed investment and interest to this important part of the city centre.

The Stead’s Place site largely consisted of an inhospitable and aged industrial estate, which will now be replaced by a thriving community connected directly to the city centre by the new tram service.

As Main Contractor, Collab Construction are delivering the first and largest phase of the site consisting of 110 high-quality new build apartments, as part of an attractive landscaped residential scheme linking to Pilrig Park and beyond. The project is expected to be delivered mid-2024.

    Current Site Progress:

The ground floor is close to completion, the first-floor structural walls are complete and the metal deck to the second floor is progressing well.

Retail Fit Out - Leith Walk, Edinburgh.

The development of the 2.9-acre Steads Place site also entails a complete refurbishment of the historic Red Sandstone Building on Leith Walk, offering a variety of flexible retail spaces on the ground floor, with a level of contemporary office suites above.

The refurbished Red Sandstone Building will be the gateway to the new community, continuing the rich tradition of diversity and independence which makes Leith Walk such an exciting destination in which to shop, eat, drink, live, work and visit.

Collab Construction is currently reorganising and refitting six of those units for a major national multiple retailer – the new grocer is expected to open in early 2024.

    Current Site Progress:

Collab recently started on site and Strathclyde demolition have designed and installed the supporting scaffold system so that structural walls can be removed.

The team are currently halfway through the demolition works and will soon have P&M Sinclair carrying out the groundworks in readiness for the steel installation.
