Projects
Collab Construction is currently working on the live projects below.
Steads Place, Edinburgh.
The development of Stead’s Place, near the foot of Leith Walk in Edinburgh, will herald a major regeneration of the 2.9-acre site bringing much-needed investment and interest to this important part of the city centre.
The Stead’s Place site largely consisted of an inhospitable and aged industrial estate, which will now be replaced by a thriving community connected directly to the city centre by the new tram service.
As Main Contractor, Collab Construction are delivering the first and largest phase of the site consisting of 110 high-quality new build apartments, as part of an attractive landscaped residential scheme linking to Pilrig Park and beyond. The project is expected to be delivered by early 2025.
Current Site Progress:
Essential groundworks are underway, resulting in access through the site being temporarily removed until week commencing 30 September 2024. The contractor team at Collab appreciate the inconvenience these works are causing in terms of access through the site. The priority is always the health and safety of those working on site or walking close to the site, hence the closure of access as these final groundworks and path enhancements are completed. Collab Construction thanks all local residents for their patience and cooperation until an access path can once again be opened.
The goal of the final ground works is to enhance and widen the access through the site, making it a safe active travel route, well-lit and suitable for pedestrian, pushchair and cyclists alike. A safe thoroughfare connecting Pilrig Park and Leith Walk is at the core of this new residential scheme and these works, whilst appreciably inconvenient in the immediate short term for local residents, will improve connectivity and bring a new sense of life to the area behind the Red Sandstone.
Retail Fit Out - Leith Walk, Edinburgh.
The development of the 2.9-acre Steads Place site also entailed a complete refurbishment of the historic Red Sandstone Building on Leith Walk, which now offers a variety of flexible retail spaces on the ground floor, with a level of contemporary office suites above.
The refurbished Red Sandstone Building will be the gateway to the new community, continuing the rich tradition of diversity and independence which makes Leith Walk such an exciting destination in which to shop, eat, drink, live, work and visit.
Collab Construction refitted six of those units for Tesco, a major national multiple retailer – the new store opened in early 2024.
Current Site Progress: Complete.
